Muhammad Farms Wheat Seeds – Our Organic, non-GMO wheat seeds (berries) are grown, harvested, stored and packaged on our 1556 acre farm in Georgia. These are the same wheat seeds that we use to grow our wheat grain which we mill into Whole Wheat Flour, Pastry Flour and Cream of Whole Wheat at Muhammad Farms. Each case has five 3 lbs. bags. Each 3 lbs. bag plants a 30’ x 30’ ft plot (900 sq. ft.) of wheat. Plant them between November 15 and December 15 in the same manner that you would plant grass. You can also grind these seeds into whole wheat flour and you can grow wheat sprouts to enhance your salads.

STORAGE
The products in the Staple Goods line are “minimally processed” and have little to no chemicals. For this reason we recommend following the storage requirements listed. Following these instructions will ensure the quality of your products and properly stored, items should last 1 year or more.
STORAGE: All products – Store in “air-tight” containers. You can add a couple of bay leaves to your container for protection from insects. NOTE: Bay leaves repel pantry insects. Everyone from beetles to weevils, moths, roaches, ants, silverfish and flies is said to hate the herb’s fragrance.
Sugar is one of those items that can be stored indefinitely if packaged correctly. Storing sugar is as easy as keeping it away from moisture, and in an airtight container. It can be stored in a cool, dark place like a pantry, or in the fridge or the deep freeze. Using food-grade buckets or containers is a convenient way to seal in flavor and seal out bugs. Sugar does not support microbial growth, and therefore has an unlimited shelf life. You do not need to use an O2 absorber when storing sugar. For all types of sugar, an airtight container or packaging is all that is needed.
Dry Beans To keep dried beans as fresh as possible, store them in food-safe storage containers with tight-fitting lids. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. The best way to store beans long-term is to seal them in Mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. Mylar is impervious to moisture and gases and blocks light. Because the OAs remove oxygen from the bags, the beans are protected from virtually all spoilage. Properly stored dried beans stay safe to eat indefinitely, but start to lose vitamin content after 2 to 3 years of storage. After 3 to 5 years, the taste starts to gradually alter and your beans might not be as good as you’re used to.
Brown Rice Because of the oil in its bran layer, uncooked brown rice has a shorter shelf life than white rice and maintains its quality for about 6 months. For longer storage, refrigerate or freeze uncooked brown rice. Refrigerated brown rice will maintain quality for 6 to 12 months.
NOTE: Below are images of suggested items that can be purchased and used for long term storage: 5 gallon food grade bucket, two-part gamma lid, 5 gallon mylar bags with oxygen absorbers and a how to video for putting your lid on your bucket. 1 five gallon bucket will hold 25 lbs of product.
